2016 Honda HR-V Test Drive And Review: Just In Time

The current trend in compact crossover vehicles is definitely on the upswing, and now the 2016 Honda HR-V enters the fray. Honda is very good at identifying trends and joining them with a well-considered product before they peak. Does the HR-V follow the Honda model?

The HR-V slots in nicely in the Honda lineup. It’s a few inches longer than a Fit, and about 10” shorter than a CR-V. It is also unmistakably its own creature, sharing some family similarities with other Honda vehicles, but maintaining a sporty SUV character all its own. Honda has not shied away from emphasizing the “sport” in “sport utility vehicle,” with a fast sloping back roofline rising character lines. Camouflaging the rear door handles so that they look like part of the “C” pillar reinforces the coupe styling of the HR-V. The lever is reminiscent of the handles on Nissan’s Juke, Xterra, Pathfinder and Armada, but a little easier to reach than on those tall SUVs. Parents of young children will need to take notice of these handles, as they may be too high for early gradeschoolers to reach on their own.
